I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to develop a viral marketing campaign to celebrate the 60th birthday of HBF, WA’s largest Heath Insurance Corporation. The brief was to create something to build brand awareness (using “Ted”, the new company mascot) and draw people into exploring the newly released website (
www.AskTed.com.au) through an invite-a-friend viral mechanic.
The final product was a highly addictive arcade-style game, developed in Flash and starring Ted flying a plane. After playing, users could challenge friends to beat their high score via automated email.
The campaign was a spectacular success, attracting a great deal of traffic towards Ask Ted.
