‘From This Day Forth…’

The Magnificent King Merley pulled the noise out of the engine of his beloved Maserati and declared “Enough is enough! From this day forth, all unnecessary sound shall be illegal!”

Another sketch for the kids book I’m making with my sister. We’ve finally cobbled together a more tangible plot line, which should help things along.
Pictured above is a member of the goblin ‘Stealth Police’, cleaning up a clump of palpable noise pollution. Below shows Victor Applecrouch & Poppy Annopoli sneaking into a the Stealth Police’s submarine.

Sketched the waiters while waiting for a friend at Pellegrini’s, one of my favourite haunts in Melbourne.
Still developing characters for an illustrated kids book I’m planning to create, I thought I’d wash about some ink, and work back into it with Artline 70’s, for detail. I quite like the effect.

A few more quick sketches:
Trying to stretch my stylistic vocabulary a little, I managed to channel a little of the distorted essence of Egon Schiele while sketching some character studies for a kids book i’m working on: she looks to me like a bitter old girl , but i love the strength of the character
^ Martin Pribble

^ Dream characters

^ This girl keeps popping up in my sketches, though I don’t think I’ve ever met her. I don’t try to draw her, I think she just keeps drawing herself in.
I went to the AIM graduation screenings, tonight.
There were some crap animations, some funny, and one really beautiful b/w piece, i think it was called The Astronomer (i HAVE to meet the woman who made it)
Afterwards, a friend and I started thinking that it might be funny if there was a short animation about cartoon characters who are having problems with their illustrations / animations ways….
Hip Ho Hooray! they are fantastico ! Super soup of the day SUPERB (oooh it makes me hate those nasty goblins grrrrr)

Thanks Ben! I’m hoping to have it published by the end of this year. I’ve never published a book before so I’ve no idea if that’s a realistic deadline or not… but for now, that’s what I’m aiming for.
